Motor Racing in Indonesia

Indonesia is known for it's passionate fans in football. 
But with that, any other sport kind of left off behind the spotlight. Here's some highlight of motor racing in Indonesia.



A. Sentul International Circuit
      It was host to the Indonesian MotoGP from 1996-1997.


B. Rio Haryanto
       Rio Haryanto was the first Indonesian F1 driver to compete in the highest tier of open wheel racing for 12 races in the 2016 season for Manor Racing. He was later sacked and replaced by Esteban Ocon because of sponsorship issues.

C. Sean Gelael, Dimas Ekky, Andi Gilang, and other young prospects


Dimas Ekky Pratama competed in the 2019 Moto2 season.

Andi Gilang will compete in the 2020 Moto2 season.


Sean Gelael currently compete in the F2 series. He will race with DAMS in 2020.
